How The Anatomy Coloring Book Is Arranged?

The book Anatomy Coloring Book pdf is organized into sections based on the subject content. There are numerous themes in each area. Each topic has a page of images on one side and a column of text on the other. It is unnecessary to color the sections in order, but you should color the pages for whichever portion you choose.

You have the option of reading the text first and then coloring it, or you can color first and then reread it more attentively. However, before coloring, always read the coloring notes (CN). They tell you if specific colors are required and how to color in the correct order and what to avoid.

Authors of The Anatomy Coloring Book PDF

Wynn Kapit

Wynn Kapit, the book’s designer, and artist have worked in law, visual and advertising design, drawing, and teaching, among other fields. He graduated from the University of Miami’s law school with honors in 1955 and was admitted to the Florida Bar. Before and after his military duty, he practiced law. He enrolled in the Art Center College in Los Angeles, where he studied graphic design four years later to fulfill a childhood dream.

He then spent six years as a designer and art director in the New York advertising industry. In the late 1960s, he “checked out,” went to California, and began painting. In 1968, he had a one-man show in the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, one of his many exhibitions. He returned to school in 1972 and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a master’s degree in painting.

In 1975, Kapit taught adult education in San Francisco when he realized he needed to study more about bones and muscles. At San Francisco City College, he enrolled in Dr. Elson’s anatomy class. He devised the word-and-illustration coloring structure as a student, which appeared to be a wonderfully effective manner of learning the subject. He showed Dr. Elson several layouts and expressed his desire to create a coloring book for artists about bones and muscles. Seeing the potential of this method right away pushed Kapit to create a “full” anatomy coloring book and volunteered to help with the effort.

The Anatomy Coloring Book was initially released in 1977, and its rapid success sparked the creation of an entirely new genre of publishing: educational coloring books. Dr. Robert I. Macey and Dr. Esmail Meisami, who were both teaching at Berkeley at the time, helped Kapit design The Physiology Coloring Book. That book was first released in 1987 and has since been reprinted twice. Kapit created and produced The Geography Coloring Book, which is now in its second edition, in the early 1990s.

Lawrence M. Elson, PhD

The book’s content and organization were planned by Lawrence M. Elson, Ph.D., who also provided sketches and wrote the text. He is the author of It’s Your Body and The Zoology Coloring Book, The Human Brain Coloring Book and The Microbiology Coloring Book, and co-author of The Human Brain Coloring Book and The Microbiology Coloring Book. He earned his BA in zoology and pre-med from the University of California, Berkeley, and earned his Ph.D. in human anatomy there. Dr. Elson teaches anatomy as an assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

He also worked to establish the Physician Assistant Program, where he also helped develop the Physician Assistant Program. He lectured and taught dissection anatomy at the University of California School of Medicine in San Francisco. He taught general anatomy at City College of San Francisco, from protozoa to humans. When he was younger, Dr. Elson trained to be a navy aviator and flew dive-bombers off aircraft carriers in the Western Pacific.

He stayed in the Naval Air Reserve and flew antisubmarine patrol planes and helicopters while completing college and graduate school. In his 20-year Navy service, he most recently served as the commanding officer of a reserve antisubmarine helicopter squadron.

Dr. Elson is a causation-of-injury/death consultant to insurance companies and personal injury and medical malpractice attorneys, a business that has carried him throughout the United States and Canada. Hundreds of personal injury trials and arbitrations have seen him testify. His research focuses on the anatomic bases of myofascial pain caused by low-velocity collisions.

Pros & Cons

This book is well-thought-out, and there is a “method to the madness” if you read and follow the instructions carefully. On each page, there are brief explanations of the sections you’re coloring and their roles. It requires you to color in both the part and its name to recall how it is spelled. It also uses vocabulary that you should be familiar with, such as “anteriorly” and “posteriorly.”

While most of the diagrams (so far) are rather well-drawn, a few are extremely small (the diameter and sometimes smaller than the diameter of the tip of the colored pencil). Some diagrams are not well labeled, making coloring them difficult. You’ll probably need more than the recommended ten colors listed in the introduction, as several hues, such as red, blue, yellow, purple, and green, are linked to specific body parts. You must also color with light colors, and certain pages have letters from A to N that must be colored with different colors.
