“I bought the set in July 2018 as a reference with high expectations. The first section I read was 1.28 (Functional Brain Connectivity and Psychopathology). While I found the section a useful update, I am very disappointed to find a large number of errors and typos within this section alone (e.g., p.418, right column, line 15, “may provide a richer a source…” (the second “a” is redundant), line 29, a full stop is missing after “activity” in “in ongoing brain activity This has been…”, p.421, top of the left column, “modulate” was printed as “modulo”, right column, line 18 from the bottom, “to” is missing from “applying tools from network science understand brain organization”, p.420, line 18 from the bottom, left column, “characterize” was printed as “characteristics”, bottom right column, “a direct test of” was printed as “a direct test of”. Besides, although the text says that Figure 1.28-3 (p.423) has blue and red colors, the figure is actually in black and white only. There is no color.
For an otherwise authoritative text for the field, these errors are unfortunate and the carelessness on the part of the proofreading/technical support department of the publisher is unacceptable.”

“It’s a gigantic tome of course—it’s the book we’re referring to when we say we’re doing something “by the book.”. As such it lacks creativity and outside-the-box thinking. This I can accept; what I find less agreeable in a book of this price is the lousy editing. Nearly every paragraph I’ve read has an error—a missing word, the wrong verb tense, etc. It gives the impression that either the editors didn’t care about the quality of the work, or they were in such a hellfire hurry that they left a trail of mistakes behind them. Are there other errors that aren’t so obvious? Important numbers such as doses, half-lives, response rates? I’m guessing so.”

“Great update! Obviously, I haven’t been able to read a ton, but the updates to the pharmacology sections and neurobiology sections are great. I do feel this was a great update to older editions. I prefer the physical book but have honestly spent more time looking at the online version or mobile app. I have no complaints about the online access or mobile app. By and large, they work fine. It’s interesting how much larger this book is compared to the first edition I bought in the early 90s (6th edition). Of course, as others in the field have said, it lacks in some areas, but overall it is an excellent overview of all aspects of psychiatry, psychology, and psychopharmacology, in addition to related medical problems and subspecialties.”
